Being a "YoungGun" and a Young Sneakerhead

If you guys don't know I was just featured in TheSneakerGuru's latest blog post of "Young Guns." I've been looking up to Guru for a while now, ever since I stumbled upon his page on twitter. Really cool dude. I was fortunate enough to meet him last May at Sneakercon, and I saw his infamous Yellow Lobsters.

I have always been cool with Guru, but I definitely know my place, he is quite a few levels above me in the sneaker community. So when he texted me and told me I was going to be featured on "YoungGuns," I was honored. The reason why Guru says he started the YoungGun segment on STTV is because he wants to give younger sneakerheads some shine. He explained in one of his posts that the younger heads in the community often aren't taken seriously, so I definitely respect Guru for putting out this segment.

I agree with Guru that a lot of younger sneakerheads often don't get taken seriously. I think the reasoning behind this is because adults don't give us respect because they ASSUME our parents pay for all our shit. For the most part there is no parents in their right mind that would buy their child thousands of dollars worth of sneakers. But, there is the few spoiled brats that get all their stuff handed to them. A better majority of young sneakerheads including myself, work part time jobs. I personally don't like to tell people what my job is, because I feel that I shouldn't have to give people answers to questions they have no right to ask. But, I have no problem telling people the truth. I work a part time job at a supermarket. I only get paid minimum wage, but I usually work around 12-15 hours a week during the school year, which of course adds up. I know plenty of other teens that work part time jobs. My boy Chabes work at a restaurant, Sam H works at a Finishline and countless other people do the same thing as me.

With that being said, I think younger heads deserve much MORE credit than they do, because we have to work minimum wage jobs to buy our kicks. But with the realest teens in the game doing all this work, there are of course the select number of teens who get all their shit HANDED to them. I know teen sneakerheads that straight get their ass wiped by their parents. But this small percentage of spoiled brats give the rest of us teens a bad vibe.

Anyways, once again BIG shoutout to TheSneakerGuru. You can peep my YoungGun article below, there will be a link. Thanks for reading this long ass rant. Peace fam.
